Education is a central activity of memorial museums. As a rule, guided tours, workshops, and seminars are offered and conducted for very different groups of visitors. Learning from history includes an in-depth examination of National Socialist persecution and rule, as well as the exploration of its the aftermath and the significance of history for the present.
As part of the Young People Remember program, the Federal Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) supports 31 educational projects at Nazi memorial museums throughout Germany. The focus is on the development of innovative educational and mediation formats, as well as the establishment of sustainably effective cooperative relationships through which new target groups can be reached and multipliers trained.
Some of the Young People Remember projects are presented below. Further information is available on the linked websites of the institutions and projects. Information about the contribution of the memorial department can be found here.
The plan is to present further projects and offers here, thereby providing insight into the educational work at memorial museums.
