International online conference on the occasion of the German presidency of IHRA 2020/2021

The year 2020 marks 75 years of liberation. It is also the year to mark this important anniversary within the limitations of the COVID-pandemic. Organizers of commemorations and educational activities about WW2 and the Holocaust are challenged to reach out and provide valuable ceremonies and programs.

The German embassy to the Netherlands in cooperation with the Jewish Cultural Quarter in Amsterdam and the Weiss-Livnat International Center for Holocaust Research and Education of the University of Haifa organize an online conference for organizers of commemorations to explore inspiring projects from 2020, to share good practice and to be inspired for 2021


Welcome by the ambassador of Germany to The Netherlands, His excellency Dirk Brengelmann, the ambassador of Israel to The Netherlands, His excellency Naor Gilon, Head of Dutch delegation to IHRA Mr. Ernst Steigenga.

Jaïr Stranders (Comité Herdenking Februaristaking) Commemoration of 80 years February strike during Covid pandemic.

Lindsay Shapiro, Museum of the Jewish People at Beit Hatfutzot. Museum's community-based projects emphasizing the inclusion and engagement of online visitors.
