The Future of Memory in Poland and Germany – Online Symposium on Digital Historical Education

How must digital formats be designed to facilitate access to history and memory for as many people as possible? How can digital tools help to ensure that remembering provides orientation in the here and now? There is no universally valid answer. Instead, a pluralistic society demands different approaches that do justice to the diversity of remembering. And smart concepts are needed to meet the diverse challenges of digital mediation.

Join us as we address and discuss these questions at our online event on October 1, 2021. We will talk with researcher Ewa Manikowska about her findings with multimedia installations in Polish cultural institutes and about the importance of German-Polish cooperation. We will also present seven projects from Poland and Germany that use digital tools to convey the history of National Socialism and the Holocaust. Get an insight into the potentials and challenges of chatbots, web documentaries, augmented reality, serious games and mobile apps for historical-civic education.

The event marks the end of the current term of digital // memory, a funding program of the EVZ Foundation. Together with iRights.Lab as a partner for the support of the funding program, the Foundation EVZ cordially invites all interested parties to learn more about digital // memory and to discuss together the future of memory in Poland and Germany!

See the invitation attached for more information on the program and register here.

With great anticipation
