The "New Antisemitism" in Britain: Thoughts and Reflections

Programm:

Anthony Julius, prominent British lawyer and academic best known for his defense of Deborah Lipstadt when she was sued for libel by Holocaust denier David Irving, examines contemporary antisemitism in the United Kingdom, specifically how it treats Zionism and the State of Israel as illegitimate Jewish enterprises and constitutes a threat to Anglo-Jewish security and morale. Deputy Chairman of the London law firm Mishcon de Reya, Julius is also a Visiting Professor at Birkbeck, University of London. He is the author of several books, including one on the antisemitism of T.S. Eliot and another, in press, "Trials of the Diaspora: A History of Antisemitism in England". Julius is also Vice-President of the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund, which he helped found and served as its first chairman.

This lecture has been made possible by the Judith B. and Burton P. Resnick Fund for the Study of Antisemitism.
