Brandenburg Memorial Museums Foundation

The Brandenburg Memorial Museums Foundation manages six memorial museums in the state of Brandenburg: Sachsenhausen, Ravensbrück, Belower Wald, Leistikowstraße Potsdam, and, in Brandenburg an der Havel, the memorial museums for the victims of the “euthanasia” murders and the Brandenburg-Görden prison. The Lower Saxony Memorial Museums Foundation is based in Celle and is responsible for the Bergen-Belsen memorial museum and the memorial museum in the Wolfenbüttel prison. Saxony-Anhalt Memorial Museums Foundation

The Saxony-Anhalt Memorial Museums Foundation includes seven facilities: the Lichtenburg Prettin concentration camp, the Langenstein-Zweiberge subcamp, the Isenschnibbe Field Barn memorial museum, the Bernburg memorial museum dedicated to the victims of Nazi “euthanasia”, the Roter Ochse prison in Halle and Moritzplatz in Magdeburg, and the memorial museum dedicated to the division of Germany at the former Marienborn border crossing. The foundation’s activities include the exploration of crimes perpetrated by the Nazi regime, as well as the serious violations of human rights during the Soviet occupation and the GDR dictatorship. The foundation advises initiatives in the federal state, organises exhibitions, and issues publications.

 

Saxon Memorial Museums Foundation

The memorial museums Pirna-Sonnenstein, Ehrenhain Zeithain, Großschweidnitz, Münchner Platz Dresden, Bautzen, as well as the Dresden Documentation Centre and the Torgau Documentation and Information Centre, are integrated into the Saxon Memorial Museums Foundation. The persecutions perpetrated during the Nazi era are examined, as are those of the Soviet occupying power and the GDR dictatorship.
