VANCOUVER HOLOCAUST EDUCATION CENTRE SEEKING.EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR. .The Vancouver Holocaust Centre Society for Education and Remembrance (VHCS) is seeking an exceptional leader, a person with the dedication and skills to ensure that the mandate of the VHCS is not only upheld, but taken to higher levels. The VHCS was incorporated in 1985 by a group of British Columbia survivors of the Holocaust. It was established in order to leave a permanent legacy to the citizens of BC through programs devoted to Holocaust-based anti-racism education. Since its opening in November, 1994, the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre (VHEC) has established itself as one of the leading Holocaust education centres in North America. The VHEC carries out an ambitious and active program, mounting over 35 events each year and reaching over 25,000 students annually. . .The Executive Director will be responsible for the daily management and operation of the VHEC, including but not limited to:. . Program development and Grant Writing. Human Resources Management – staffing, board relations, community and public relations. Financial and budget management. .The successful applicant will have experience in: administration, preferably in a museum, academic, arts or culture related organization; human resources management; financial management and budget processes; working with a volunteer Board of Directors; a willingness to work within the VHCS’ vision, values and policies; a passion for and knowledge of history and anti-racism education; proven qualities of team leadership; marketing and communication skills.. .This position requires an energetic individual with proven ability to work under pressure, who has excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication/presentation/organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects with deadlines, and a willingness to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the organization.. .The successful applicant will have a graduate degree in a relevant discipline. This is a full-time salary position commencing April 15, 2006.
