Memory and Justice: How Museums, Archives and Historical Memory Centers contribute to the development of society

 The International Committee of Memorial Museums of Victims of Public Crimes (ICMEMO) will hold the 10th World Conference from 30 May to 3 June 2011, at the Memorial Museum of Dominican Resistance, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.  This international meeting will be held under the theme "Remembrance and Justice. How Museums, Archives and Historical Memory Centers contribute to the development of a society, coinciding with the celebration of 50 anniversary of the execution of Trujillo and the fall of the dictatorship.  It reflects on the role of museums in a democratic society and its role in the field of informal education. Take stock of the contributions of memorial museums on social diversity and strengthening the identity as a nation and its contribution to truth and justice, the enhancement of democracy and respect for human rights.  We encourage all members of ICMEMO, ICOM, ICOM-DO and non-members who share a special interest in these issues, to attend the meeting of ICMEMO to exchange ideas and experiences to benefit the social and educational development of our peoples.

There are several options for registration. Depending on the option chosen, the fee includes: support materials, simultaneous translation and coffee breaks.
